Wife Stabbed Nearly to Death, Speaks Out

By: Julie Musgrave
Updated: March 13, 2009

A Lubbock man will now spend the rest of his life in prison for stabbing his wife multiple times. Amy Haney almost died that night, but now, after more than a year, she's. It only took 30 minutes to determine Timothy Haney guilty, and only a few more minutes to give him life in prison. But it's taken a year and half for his wife Amy to finally feel safe again after the night he almost took her life.

The deep scars are a constant reminder for Amy that she's lucky to be alive. She says after a fight over what time it was, her husband Timothy pulled a knife out of his back pocket and stabbed her more than 20 times.

It wasn't the first time Timothy had physically abused her. She says she had tried to leave him several times for the safety of her kids, but that night a year and a half ago almost killed her. She says she's thankful for her life, but still fears for her and her children's safety almost daily.

After Thursday's verdict though -- she says she can finally breathe a sigh of relief, and possibly move on from the tragedy.

Haney says the hardest part of an abusive relationship is getting out. She wants anyone who is being hurt emotionally or physically to get help immediately, before something like what happened to her happens to anyone else.
