Police continue to search for a Lubbock teen accused of aggravated assault on an officer.
Police are looking for 19-year-old Adam Vidales. Friday night, Officer Jess Karren went out to a burglary in progress on the 1900 block of 63rd Street. When the two men ran from the house toward their car, Karren drew his pistol and yelled at the suspects to stop. That's when Karren says they started driving toward him. Karren fired two shots at the car, hitting the passenger, 17-year-old Moses Navarrette. He was later found on a porch at Applegate Shady Acres mobile home park. Navarrette is still listed in critical condition at UMC while police search for Vidales.
Capt. Greg Stevens, LPD:
"It's a warrant for aggravated assault on a public servant so just the title of it indicates a dangerous individual."
Officer Karren has been temporarily placed on paid administrative leave during the investigation. Police say that is standard practice with any officer involved in a shooting. Karren has been with the department since January 2008.
