Lockney High School is closer to being re-built after Wednesday's generous donation from a South Plains business. Monsanto Company donated $20,000 to the school. So far, Lockney has raised $120,000 to rebuild the school, which was destroyed in an arson fire. Students and teachers are now working in mobile buildings. Those buildings will serve as classrooms and administrative buildings until they can move into a permanent place they can once-again call Lockney High School.
"We have gotten in our portable buildings and that's where we are now. And that has really been a blessing for us, to be able to get in here where we've got some space to do our jobs," says Superintendent Phil Cotham.
Administrators have hired a construction manager, whose job it is to come up with a design and plan for the new school.
