Trucking Industry Picking Up

With millions of Americans laid off and looking for jobs, the trucking industry is seeing a surge of new employees. Across the US, the demand for truck drivers is high.

Here in west Texas South Plains College partners with the International Trucking School to provide big rig education. Students take a 4 week class, getting their commericial drivers license and the chance to start driving immediately.
 
International Trucking instructors say their class enrollment has already increased 50% from last year. Says Roy Wood, "The interest in the truck school and the trucking industry has definitely picked up since the economy took the nosedive." Teacher Doyle Russell explains, "This is the only class I can think of where you go for 4 weeks and come out making $35,000 a year."
