Inmates in the Lubbock County Jail will be sitting there a little longer.
Prisoners were supposed to be moved into the new facility begin built in North Lubbock this May, but due to delays in testing the security systems, they may not be moved until early September.
Commissioner Bill McCay said that it will cost Lubbock County extra funds to house Lubbock inmates in other facilities until the new jail is open.
McCay said that contractors will have to reimburse Lubbock County for those costs.
