This Saturday, you can lace up your shoes and help out hundreds of children on the South Plains. CASA, which stands for "Court Appointed Special Advocates," is hosting their annual 5k walk and run on Saturday morning. Proceeds will go toward training new volunteers that will be court advocates for children in foster care.
Volunteers say it's a worthwhile fundraiser for some very special kids. Even Tech's Kappa Alpha Theta sorority is stepping up to help and asking you to join the cause. Says Philanthropy Chair Jordan Gould, "Everyone in the community is always interested when a local charity does something like this, something they can be involved in. Everybody wants wants to have an involvement in a charity and so this is a way that they can do that."
