Inspectors and attorneys for victims of the recent salmonella outbreak toured Plainview's peanut plant Wednesday. While inside they found dead rodents, roaches, live birds and leaks coming from the roof. The lawyers wanted a first-hand look at how the plant was operating when it shut down in February. Not only do they call this a tragedy for the families who've lost loved ones from salmonella poisoning, but also a tragedy for families in Plainview who lost their jobs.

"If they would have spent some money on roofing and vermin control, they would have been a perfectly great plant to produce whatever in there. But I think they were clearly scrimping on some money," says Marler Clark attorney Bill Marler.

Their next stop is Blakely, GA where they'll tour the other PCA plant involved in the salmonella scare.
