The University Interscholastic League has suspended all academic and sports competitions until May 11 due the outbreak of Swine Flu in Texas.
UIL officials are calling it a proactive measure that will keep students from traveling into areas of South and Central Texas where outbreaks have occurred.
Lubbock ISD officials say there is no reason to panic. They are also taking measures to limit the risk to Lubbock students.
"We've been especially vigilant with our school nurses monitoring students and sending to health professionals anyone that has any close symptoms," said Nancy Sharp the Communications Director for LISD.
Any children that have shown flu symptoms have tested negative for the virus.
