A Lubbock surgeon returns from the Middle East after performing dozens of pro-bono surgeries in Iraq. Dr. John Thomas spent two weeks in northern Iraq, working with a team of 8 different surgeons. Together, they performed more than 30 surgeries on Iraqi citizens and worked to educate Iraqi doctors.

Dr. Thomas says the goal was to show them that Americans care, "It's our job to carry the message of hope and love. The universal language of any communication is love, and when we were able to show that to them, risking our safety, our family, and our business, at the same time, we teach them, and they know we're there because we care."
