In Morton, just west of Levelland, a woman is dead after an SUV ran her down early Wednesday morning. It happened just after midnight. Cochran County sheriff's officials say the incident started with a dispute, and they believe alcohol was involved.

Officials say 50 year old Marla Jane Click was killed, after she was hit by a Ford Explorer, driven by 24 year old Andrew Soliz. He fled the scene but was later arrested in Muleshoe. The incident is now being investigated as a homicide.

Cochran County Sheriff Wallace Stalcup says it's a shocking day for the Morton community, "We have our share of family fights and disturbances and what not, but for something like this, where it looks like someone was deliberately struck with a vehicle, yes, that's very rare."
