Local and national fallen officers were honored Friday at a memorial ceremony.  133 officers were killed in the line of duty last year, 14 of those here in Texas.

Today, the Lubbock Police Department honored six fallen officers dating back to 1947, all the way up to the most recent loss in law enforcement, Corporal D. Harvey.  Families from several of those killed gathered Friday afternoon.

This week was named police week back in 1962 by JFK.  He also enacted May 15th as Peace Officers Memorial Day.
