Big changes are in store for several chains in Lubbock. Stores like United Supermarkets and 7-11 plan to have their shelves stocked with beer and wine within the next two months. All 9 United Supermarkets and all 22 7-11 stores also plan to sell beer and wine, and both store chains will make sure their employees are TABC certified.

They say the public has spoken about what they want, and store officials hope to get the products in place as quickly as possible. They say they're excited about a boost in sales, but getting ready for that boost won't be easy.

Eddie Owens of United comments, "It really is a matter of rearranging a big chunk of every store, and the smaller the store, the more a store's impacted by the rearrangement of product and so when you multiply that by 9, it becomes a pretty big operation."
