Alcohol Prop 2: What It Means For Lubbock

With the all the uproar over the alcohol Proposition 1 lawsuit, the other proposition, #2, has slipped from the spotlight. But its passage is good news for some Lubbock restaurants. Proposition 2 dealt with the "members-only" clause necessary for some restaurants outside Lubbock's old city limits. It means customers had to become "members" before consuming alcohol at restaurants like 'Lujan's, 101 Bar & Grill, and Cagle's Steakhouse.
Now that the proposition passed, the businesses can get rid of their membership policies. Sorothy Kennedy, of the Lubbock County Elections Office says, "You as a customer don't have to join a club or a membership or have them swipe your driver's license, you'll just be able to sit down at your booth and be able to order a margarita just like you would at Chili's or TGI Friday's."
