A car wreck in Northwest Lubbock County kills a small child and leaves a sheriff's deputy injured.
It happened around 10:30 this morning on FM 2641 just south of Shallowater. Police say an SUV ran a stop sign, hitting a Lubbock County Sheriff's Deputy.
A 3-year-old child in the SUV died from her injuries, and many others were rushed to area hospitals with injuries.
Police say 26-year-old Kimberly Flores of Littlefield was driving southbound with 7 passengers in her car when she reportedly ran a stop sign, crashing into Lubbock Sheriff Deputy Ken Mull.
Two toddlers were ejected from the Suburban -- one remains in critical condition, the other, 3-year-old Hannah Spoon died from her injuries. Police tell us she wasn't wearing a seatbelt nor was she in a carseat.
The other four passengers are all okay. We're told Deputy Mull has a cracked sternum but is expected to be alright.
Now -- no official charges have been made against the driver of the Suburban yet, DPS officals say they are looking into whether alcohol was a factor or not.
We'll of course continue to follow this story and bring you the latest.
