Police confirm the city's three recent murders, including one last night, are in fact related. Now police are working to locate a "person of interest" in those three shooting deaths, and they need the public's help to bring the man in for questioning.
After three homicides in less than a week in Lubbock, a major break came on Wednesday afternoon. Police confirmed all three cases are connected and named 31-year-old Tyrone Jermaine Robinson as a person of interest in the investigation. Cpt. Greg Stevens with the LPD says, "We're not ready to name a suspect in the shooting cases. He is wanted on an outstanding aggravated assault warrant stemming from a shootting incident." Stevens says, that shooting incident happened back in February, this year. Robinson is accused of shooting a man several times along the 1900 block of 60th Street, but the victim survived. "Based upon the aggravated assault warrant, we know that he is in fact armed and we do consider him extremely dangerous," Stevens says.
Without giving details, Stevens says homicide detectives have reason to believe Robinson is not only responsible for that prior shooting, but he also has information about this week's string of homicides. Last Thursday, someone shot Angela Holt as she sat in a friend's car on East 8th street. Friday morning, Daniel Wilbon was gunned down in his home on East Rice. Then late Tuesday night, Aldo Cervantes was also shot to death outside a friend's house at 6211 22nd Street. Whether the victims knew eachother, or knew Robinson hasnt' been released yet. Stevens says police simply have to be tightlipped because of the ongoing investigation. "I can't put out right now what has connected the three shooting incidents ... simply that detectives have developed information that connect the incidents to each other."
Now again Robinson is simply a person of interest in these cases and police are still looking for him. They're also still looking for several other people who could know something about last night's homicide. Witnesses described seeing five black men flee the scene in a large cream colored SUV with chrome wheels.
