Thousands of dollars worth of items will be auctioned off this weekend -- they're frozen assets, and former property, of the Lamesa man believed to be behind a major investment scam.
Richard Stringer is believed to be behind a major investment scam. And the millions of dollars he alledgedly took from folks paid for a rather lavish lifestyle, including cars, boats, jewelry and homes.
Now those things are up for auction this Saturday. Auction organizers hope to make between $300,000 and $400,000 from the auction, all in an attempt to get at least some of the stolen money back to it's rightful owners.
Brent Graves, Great American Auction Group: "I think there will certainly be a lot of folks there in the Dawson County area that have an interest to come by the auction, at least see what is selling, maybe see what they inadvertently purchased."
The auction begins at 1:30 Saturday afternoon in Lamesa. You can also bid live, on-line at the auctioneers website, that's GreatAmericanAuctionGroup.com.
