Letter Carriers Worried About Dangerous Dogs

Injured letter carriers here in Lubbock are begging families to keep their dogs inside this summer. Just this year, dogs bit two mail carriers, and the US Postal Service is afraid that number will only go up. When kids are home for the summer, family pets aren't locked up as often, and people can forget that a dog's way of protecting the family is going after the mailman.
"This is one of those jobs that it is an inherent danger, but nobody expects to get bit. Both of those times that I was bitten were times when we didn't see the dogs, didn't know they were there, and bascially came out of what we thought was nowhere," says Ray Uria with the US Postal Service.
If your dog ends up biting a letter carrier, or anyone who comes to your door, you could be responsible for their medical bills.
