Lawsuit Goes On in Shelter Suit

It will be at least 30 more days until we find out whether or not Mackenzie Park will be home to Lubbock's new animal shelter. A judge granted both parties in the shelter suit an extra month to do their research, and look up similar Supreme Court cases. Also, since construction on the new shelter isn't set to start until December, no temporary restraining orders were issued. Plantiffs in the lawsuit are optimistic about next month's hearing.
"This is a victory for the plaintiffs because the city did not get its way. If the citizens do not stand up to further encroachment then the Mackenzie Park area stands to be gone forever," says plaintiff Frank Gutierrez.
Both the city and the group of seven plaintiffs will present their newly researched cases on July 14th.
