The NTSB wrapped up their investigation of the Dougherty plane crash, but we still don't know what caused the accident. Their report will include a detailed examination of the wreckage, weather conditions at the time of the crash, and the pilot's flying experience. On Saturday, farmers in Dougherty found 53 year-old Rainer Aberer and his wife 56 year-old Sharen Lee Seversen dead, ejected from a Cessna 182. DPS officials say Aberer was flying out of Houston, and tried to contact the Plainview Airport to land Thursday night.
"It will be just kind of a slow, ongoing process as we wait for various reports and pieces of information to come in through the conduct of our investigation," says Jennifer Rodi with the NTSB.
Authorities were looking at bad weather and high winds as factors in the crash. The full report should be available in six to eight months.
