Investigators from the National Transportation Safety Board have finished their work at the site of the fatal plane crash in Floyd County.
Officials confirm the single engine Cessna 182 crashed Thursday night, but wasn't discovered until Saturday afternoon. Both the pilot, 53-year-old Rainer Aberer and his wife, 56-year-old Sharen Seversen were killed. Federal investigators will now work to complete the full report on the exact cause of the crash.
Jennifer Rodi, National Transportation Safety Board:
"We'll include the weather, the pilot's training and experience, and the examination of the wreckage. I place that all into a full report that's usually available to the public within 6 to 8 months of the accident investigation being initiated."
The National Weather Service reported very gusty winds and thunderstorms Thursday in the area of the crash.
