The Lubbock Police Department got paid today for their efforts against 8-liner gambling businesses.

District Attorney Matt Powell handed over an $80,000 check to LPD.

The funds came from a series of undercover gambling busts conducted in 2007 and 2008 on several 8-liner gambling businesses right here in Lubbock.

Police officials say the funds will go toward new armor for their officers.
