A North Lubbock man is speaking out against current motor vehicle sales laws.

Back in 2006, the Texas legislature voted to charge people taxes on the blue book value of a used car instead of taxing the amount paid for the vehicle. '

David Richards' bought a car  that doesn't run for $500 dollars as a project, but the state taxed him for the blue book value of $2,100.

That tripled the amount in sales tax he had to pay.

This issue has attracted the attention of Representative Carl Isett who says he intends to fight this tax system.
