Lubbock police continue to investigate a dead body found in a northeast Lubbock field.

Just before 3:00 Monday, a utility worker discovered the body in a field southeast of the Lubbock Airport.

Investigators determined it was that of a male, but are awaiting autopsy results to identfiy the victim.

Tuesday, detectives on horseback and ATV's combed the area where the body was found, searching for clues as to what happened.

"We found a couple of items of interest. Whether they turn out to be anything or not, I don't know, but their whole job is just to get out there and find stuff that just doesn't look like it's supposed to be there," Cpl. Mark Long with LPD says.

The autopsy was scheduled for 2:30 Tuesday afternoon.

KLBK will continue to follow this story and bring you any information as we get it.
