Amber Alert Issued out of Andrews, Child Found in Hobbs

By: Julie Musgrave
Updated: July 15, 2009

New details tonight in the Amber Alert issued earlier this evening out of Andrews, southwest of Lubbock.

Police tell us the baby was found in Hobbs, NM, but not with the father as was originally suspected.

Officials are still looking for 28-year-old Jesse Jaramillo Senior, the father of the child.

9-month-old Jesse Jaramillo Junior is in good condition, and will remain in custody of New Mexico Child Protective Services for the time being. Andrews PD officials tell us they are communicating with family members to coordinate to reunite the child with the mother.

Police tell us they issued the Amber Alert for 9-month-old Jesse Jaramillo Junior after police were called to a home in northwest Andrews around 2 a.m. this morning.

There they found a woman with several gashes on her body. She says it was Jaramillo, her estranged common-law husband, who had beaten her, then taken off with their child.

Andrews Police Chief Bud Jones told us earlier this evening that Jaramillo could be headed to the Hobbs or Odessa area, and that's where the child was found... but police are still looking for Jaramillo, Sr.

He currently has a warrant out for aggravated assault and burglary of a habitation.

He was last seen driving a white 1993 Nissan Maxima with two different New Mexico Plates.
