Lubbock Police are investigating an alleged sexual assault.
Police responded to a shots fired call just after 5:00 Wednesday afternoon on the 1600 block of Avenue R.
We're told shots were never actually fired, but that this situation appears to be a case of vigilantism.
Three men are being questioned by detectives because they're believed to be involved in some sort of assault that took place outside apartments on the 1600 block of Avenue R.
Investigators tell us it stemmed from a 'runaway' case.
Apparently, two 12-year-old girls didn't return home Tuesday night, so they were reported missing.
The girls returned home Wednesday afternoon, though, and apparently told their parents that three men held them against their will in an apartment and sexually assaulted them.
It was at that point that family members of the two girls went to the apartment to confront the alleged suspects.
We're told the family members accused these men of sexually assaulting the young girls and it was during that argument that both sides showed guns.
Both girls were taken to Covenant Medical Center for examination.
As of Wednesday night- no charges have been filed against either party.
