Police Investigate a Possible Sexual Assault Case

Lubbock Police are investigating a possible sexual assault case involving two young girls.
Police responded to a 'shots fired' call just after 5 o-clock this afternoon. But once they arrived on scene it was a much different story. Once police arrived to the Morocco Apartments at the 1600 block of Avenue R, they found no shots had actually been fired. What they did find, was two families outside an apartment, saying two girls had been assaulted there.
We're still gathering information right now, but police say two 12-year-old girls came home this afternoon, apparently they had been missing since last night.
Now police tell us it's unknown whether that was voluntary or not, but they say the girls told their parents that three men, either in their late teens or early 20's, basically kidnapped them and held them against their will in an apartment at Morrocco apartments on the 1600 block of Avenue R.
The girls say they were sexually assaulted and forced to stay there all night. According to police, once the families heard the girls' story, they went to the men's apartment and started accusing them of the assault. After a few minutes of confrontation, one of the men inside gets out a BB or pellet gun, that prompts one of the family members to go to their car and get out another gun.
Again, no shots were actually fired. Now police are investigating the circumstances surrounding each side of the story.
No arrests have been made, but both girls are currently at Covenant being evaluated for sexual assault. The adults are also being interviewed by detectives to determine if an actual assault took place.
