Families Homeless After Lightning Strike

Overnight storms leave several West Lubbock families homeless Wednesday night.
Those storms produced lightning that stuck an apartment complex and sparked a fire. The fire broke out just before 4 Wednesday morning, when lightning hit a building at the Park Apartments at 48th and Englewood. Folks living at Park Apartments say it sounded like a bomb went off when the lightning struck. Residents were rushed out of their apartments, as firemen worked to put out the fire on the roof of the building.
"When it's lightning outside and the storm comes through like this, I'll say we had three other fire structures working during this time," says Chris Angerer with the Lubbock Fire Department.
Four families were left without a home, but they are being assisted by the Red Cross. No injuries were reported.
