An autopsy is scheduled for Monday to identify the man who was beaten to death, and dragged for miles.

Authorities tell us it happened just after 8:00 PM.  Police found the man's dead and badly mangled body in a ditch near Cotton Center.  Witnesses tell us they saw what appeared to be a red car dragging the body before dumping it in the ditch.  Police say it started more than 3 miles away at a nearby house.  One of the suspects may have actually beaten the victim to death before tying the victim to a car and dragging the body down the road, then dumping it into a ditch.

Two men have been arrested in connection with the murder.  53-year-old Bradford Halderman and Mckey Birchfield.  Lamb County Sheriff Gary Maddox says Birchfield has since confessed to the crime, and is being held on murder charges.  Halderman is being held for the investigation and for damage he did to the patrol car when he was taken into custody.
