A woman is sent to the hospital with serious head injuries after being pinned by a concrete slab.

It happened around 3:00 Tuesday afternoon at the South University Pet Hospital.  Officials say veterinarian Katherine Crouch was helping remodel the back part of the clinic, when a part of the concrete fell, pinning her head between the concrete and a shelf.

Officials say she was conscious the entire time as agencies from the Fire Department, Police Department, Risk Management, and others worked to lift it off.  She was taken away on a stretcher to University Medical Center with serious head injuries.
