Lubbock, Texas - Former Lubbock Cotton Kings netminder Shawn Conschafter stopped 29 of 30 shots on net lifting the Amarillo Gorillas to a 2-1 victory over the Lubbock Cotton Kings Friday night at City Bank Coliseum. The Hub City team is 16-22-4 on the year with 36 points in the standings. Amarillo`s Rich Hansen got the scoring started at 3:28 of the first period as he slipped the puck past Lubbock goaltender J.F. Perras. In the second period, Amarillo out-shot the Cotton Kings 17-6 and they were able to increase their lead to two. The Gorillas Keith Detlefsen lit the lamp at the 14:12 mark of the second period for the 2-0 advantage. Lubbock would finally get on the board at 5:37 of the third period with a tally from Jimmy Callahan, as he sent a wrister into the back of the net at the doorstep of the crease. The Kings out-shot the Gorillas 16-7 in the third period and tried to rally for the comeback with some late chances, but unfortunately for the Cotton Kings, Callahan`s goal stood as their only score of the evening. Amarillo`s Conschafter recorded his 12th win in net, aloowing just one goal on the night. Lubbock`s Perras made 29 saves off of 31 Gorillas shots on net in the loss. Amarillo was 0-for-8 on the power play, while the Cotton Kings were 0-for-6 on the man-advantage. The Gorillas out-shot Lubbock 31-30 for the night. The Cotton Kings will head out on the road for a Saturday night tilt with the New Mexico Scorpions at 8:05 p.m. CST. They will return home on Sunday for a 5:05 p.m. face-off with the Arizona Sundogs. --lck--
