LISD School Board For Employee Pay Raise

By: Allison Morrison
Updated: August 13, 2009

The Lubbock ISD School Board approved a pay increase for some employees in the district Thursday.

The starting teacher salary is now $36,000, up from $34,500.

The administration also recommended salary increases of at least 3% of midpoint for librarians and nurses.

That equates to an average increase of 3.8% for these groups.

The Lubbock Educators Association President, Clinton Gill, says this raise will help LISD become more competitive with other districts.

"This will help Lubbock ISD recruit and retain some of the very best teachers for our schools as our district strives to reach that recognized status again," Clinton Gill says.
