Stillwater, OK (Sports Network) - Mario Boggan poured in 35 points, grabbed 14 rebounds and had the game-winning putback with 4.1 seconds left in the second overtime as 17th-ranked Oklahoma State narrowly edged Texas Tech, 93-91, to survive a wild Big 12 showdown.
A pair of free throws by both Martin Zeno and Jarrius Jackson brought Texas Tech within 89-87 with 1:20 left in the second overtime before Michael Prince`s breakaway layup tied the game with 33.9 seconds remaining.
Then, with time running down, David Monds drove to the lane and Boggan was there to putback the rebound while being fouled by Prince in the process. Boggan completed the three-point play to give the Cowboys a 92-89 lead.
Oklahoma State didn`t give Texas Tech a chance at the game-tying three- pointer, fouling Jackson with 1.3 seconds remaining. Jackson hit the first free throw and then tried to miss the second attempt but made it anyway to bring the Red Raiders within 92-91.
JamesOn Curry hit 1-of-2 free throws and Zeno`s full court heave as time expired fell well short as Oklahoma State survived for the win.
Curry and Terrel Harris each contributed 16 points for the Cowboys (19-5, 5-4 Big 12), who put the breaks on a two-game skid and remained perfect at home this season (14-0).
"It was a really good game and I`m not surprised that it was so close because you had two teams coming in here that were desperate for a win," said Oklahoma State head coach Sean Sutton. "I had a gut feeling that Texas Tech would come in here and play well."
Jackson scored 24 points while Zeno posted 21 points and 11 boards for the slumping Red Raiders (15-10, 4-6), who have dropped five in a row.
"We both had some opportunities to win and they had one more than we did, and it?s always tough to lose like that," said Texas Tech head coach Bobby Knight. "I think that we played better than we have a lot over the course of the year."
Texas Tech appeared to have things wrapped up in the first overtime, leading 83-77 with 50.7 seconds remaining. However, Monds hit the first of two free throws and Boggan grabbed the rebound of Monds` second attempt and converted a three-point play to bright the Cowboys within 83-81 with 40.8 ticks left on the clock.
Oklahoma State then stole the inbounds pass and Curry`s layup tied the game at 83-83 with 35.7 seconds left. Jackson missed on an open layup and Zeno came up with a huge block on Marcus Dove to force the second overtime.
Two Darryl Dora free throws gave a 71-68 lead with 1:24 left in the second half before Curry`s layup brought Oklahoma State within 71-70. Boggan had a chance to give the Cowboys the lead with 31.2 seconds remaining, but he was only able to hit 1-of-2 free throws to tie the game.
Dora had a chance to win it for Texas Tech, but his jumper found rim as time expired.
Led by Boggan, Oklahoma State opened up the game strong, holding an 11-4 lead just over four minutes into the first half. The Red Raiders, though, answered with seven straight points to tie the game at 11. Things remained tight from there as the Cowboys took a 33-31 lead into the locker room.
