More Holdups on Alcohol Sales in LBK

There are more holdups in Lubbock County in the fight for alcohol sales.
TABC says they are taking a neutral stance, they say both sides have legal grounds but it appears empty stores like this one may stay empty for another several months.
TABC released a statement today, saying they're accepting three general protests from citizens against alcohol sales. The protests are based on previous elections, in which those opposed say specific cities within the county already voted to stay dry.
Therefore, the protestor's say May's vote is null and void.
Several area businesses are frustrated with yet another hold-up. Places like Hub City Convenience Stores say they've been approved for everything, gotten everything ready to go, but now they're just losing money.
Matthew Kendrick, Director of Marketing: "We have incurred costs of a new piece of property we bought, we donated to both campaigns, materials cost, building costs, of the new property that we have bought, not to mention and restructuring of our existing buildings to accommodate beer, not to mention opportunity costs, of every day not having it. It's costing us that day's amount of money."
Those hearings will be here in Lubbock, but due to a full docket, just to schedule a date could take months. TABC tells us they're trying to speed that up and get this taken care of as quickly as possible.
