It was back to school today as schools across Texas opened their doors.  It's the first day of class ever for one Frenship school.

Oak Ridge Elementary is the newest school in the Frenship Independent School District. It's located in West Lubbock near the intersection of Milwaukee and 68th street.

The first day of class came with new computers, state of the art audio visual equipment, and of course, new playground equipment.

Assistant Principal Shane Langen says it's the first day, so everything is new and exciting at Oak Ridge.

"This is great. New smell. New books. New furniture," Langen said.

"Energy is everywhere. It's filling the buildings. And then to have all the smiling faces, parents coming in this morning just to complete the process of the new school is just awesome."

Langen says there are still a few kinks to work out with the new school, but everything is coming along nicely.
