Technical difficulties kept students in one local school district from watching President Obama's back to school speech Tuesday.

Lubbock Independent School District opted out of showing the speech live.

Officials there say not all of their campuses were equipped with the right technology to stream the internet broadcast live, so the district recorded the speech and is in the process of making a copy for each of their teachers to show in class.

The highly publicized speech has garnered its fair share of criticism, but LISD officials say the President's mesage is a positive one.

"I think it's certainly the expectation of the school district that the President's message, which is a very postive one encouraging students to stay in school and to take individual responsibility for their education, and it's the expectation that it will be shown to students," LISD spokeswoman, Nancy Sharp, says.

If you do not want your child to watch the speech, LISD officials ask you to call your child's principal and other arrangements will be made.
