Expanded alcohol sales in Lubbock are all but here.  That's cause for celebration for many, but for others, it's a cause for concern.

Counseling groups of alcohol addiction say the increased availability could make Lubbock a more dangerous place for recovering alcoholics.

Rusty Fuller is the executive director of the Lubbock Faith Center, a group that holds Alcoholics Anonymous meetings. He says his group was originally against alcohol sales for that very reason.  But now that expanded sales are are almost here, the only thing to do is adjust.

"Even before the town became wet, there were many restaraunts that served alcohol. Wherever we may travel, alcohol is going to be available in some form or fashion, so they're going to have to get to a point where they're able to live in a society where that's just the way that it is," Fuller said.

TABC is still reviewing some 90 permit applications.  Alcohol could go on sale in stores across Lubbock as early as next week.
