Petersburg Woman Warns of Phone Scam

A Petersburg woman is warning folks of a scam tonight involving prison inmates and cell phones.
Christy griggs says she received a call informing her that someone she knew had been arrested in Harris County.
The caller said she needed to call a sargeant and gave her a number beginning with *72. All the number did was activate call forwarding,which gave the inmates access to her personal calls and phone records. I'm pretty angry, and I want to get it out there to the public," Griggs said.
Griggs says she's worried about other falling into the same trap.
"We have a lot of elderly people in the community that we live in. We just need to put it out there, put it out in the public because some older people that don't know might get scammed for thousands and thousands of dollars."
