The wait is finally over - you can now buy alcohol in stores across the Hub.

7-11 stores got their permits around 8:45 Wednesday morning, and shortly after they had beer distributors inside organizing cases. Store owners say they've been preparing for this day since May 9th, when voters said yes to expanding alcohol sales here in the Hub. The only difficulty they've run into is scheduling times for distributors to stop by and deliver beer and wine, but once they got it on the shelves, it wasn't long until folks were buying their first six-packs in Lubbock.

"So long it's been dry and been held back by people and we finally let the people vote, and it was made legal, and there's the proof right here," says Ethan Dometrius, the first man to buy beer from a Lubbock 7-11.

All stores have different distribution schedules, so they may not be fully stocked by Wednesday night, but 7-11 managers and folks at United Supermarkets say they'll be up to full capacity by the start of the weekend.
