Alcohol officially went on sale today in several locations around Lubbock.

Distribution trucks hauled the beer to convenience stores.  Once the employees got the alcohol, they scanned into inventory.  It then went on sale.

And it didn't take long for folks in Lubbock to take advantage.  Before the beer was even on the shelves and on display, people were already buying it.

We had the chance to speak to one man who knew he was making a historic purchase.

"It's been dry for so long and been held back. But we finally let the people vote. Now lubbock is wet," said Ethan Dometrius, holding up a bag of beer he'd purchased.

"I've lived in this town since 1978, so it's been dry forever.  The fact that it happened in my lifetime and I'm still young enough to enjoy it. It's the best thing ever."
