Thirty-seven year-old Charles Castle was driving his motorcycle on FM 1585 around 8 a.m. and was hit by an SUV turning onto 1585. At that angle, the sun could have been right in the driver's eyes, and police say that may have caused the 16 year-old driving the SUV not see the motorcycle. Castle was wearing a helmet, but died at the scene.
"Before you pull out in a type of intersection or even when you're approaching an intersection, if the sun is a factor, if you can't see for some reason, take that second look or even a third look, before you pull in to the intersection," says Neal Barron with the Lubbock Police Department.
No word yet on whether charges will be filed against the driver.
