The Supreme Court decided this morning it would hear a case on gun rights.

Today's case comes from Chicago, and it challenges a hand gun ban.

Last year, the high court decided the District of Columbia could not enforce a hand gun ban.  But now the court will be tasked with deciding whether or not that ruling also applies to state and local governments as well.

Local attorney and concealed handgun instructor Robert Hogan says a favorable decision for the gun owners in Chicago in this case could help gun owners here in Texas.

"I think that one of the things this will do for us in Texas is further solidify...get more people on our side...the side that we have already been on," Hogan said.

The Supreme Court will hear the argument on the case next year.
