The City of Lubbock is in court.

The trial began Tuesday in a taser lawsuit against the Lubbock Police Department.

The complaint stems from an incident back in July 2006.

Lubbock Police Officer Marsh Blackmore pulled over L.J. McCallan for a routine traffic stop.

Officer Blackmore says McCallan ignored his commands, so he tased the driver several times.

McCallan is now suing the city, saying Officer Blackmore was negligent and used excessive force.
