After 57 years in business, a Slaton Ford dealership will close at the end of november.

Smith South Plains' recently lost its affiliation with the Ford brand.  The dealership's owner, Annete Sykora decided they'd have to close.

Sykora says the economy and the credit crunch are to blame.

She says the hardest part is having to let go of her employees, who she says, are also friends.

"I'm sure we're all dealing with anger, resentment, sadness, and i'm sure they are too, but they've really had a great spirit of saying, 'We'll do what we have to do,'" Sykora said.

Smith Ford will close at the end of November.  It will be closed for all of December, then Sykora plans to reopen the dealership as a used car lot.
