A young Lubbock boy remains in intensive care after an SUV hits him as he crosses the street.  Now step-dad is warning others to be careful. Around 5:45 Saturday night a trip to the South Plains Mall turned dangerous for 11-year-old Ryan Hernandez.  Alex Madrigal says he dropped Ryan off at the mall with some friends around 5:00 and was supposed to pick them up at 9:00.  The children were instructed not to leave the mall,

but they did, and crossed Slide Rd. to head to Mcdonald's.  Two of the kids made it across, one decided not to try it, and Ryan was hit by a Suburban.

"He had surgery. They had to remove his spleen broke a couple ribs, bruised a lung, and broke his left arm in a couple places," Madrigal says.  Police say no charges have been filed against the driver who hit Ryan, but they are still investigating.
They're reminding shoppers and drivers to stay extra aware this holiday season as it continues getting busier around the mall and other shopping areas
