Dozens of 'no parking' signs line the Marsha Sharp Freeway, north of Jones Stadium.

The signs coming after folks parked along the freeway during the Texas Tech v. Texas A&M football game.

6,000 new seats opened on the north side of the stadium last week, but no additional parking was added, so dozens of drivers parked along the Marsha Sharp and walked across to the Jones.

Lubbock Police say not only is that a safety hazard, but it's also illegal, so TxDot put up dozens of 'no parking' signs Friday, reminding people to park elsewhere.

"Lubbock Police officers will, in fact, enforce those parking regulations and citations will be issued for vehicles that pull off the freeway and park in the landscaped areas and along the side freeways there, in violation of those signs and in violation of state laws, as well as city ordinances," Lubbock Police Captain Greg Stevens says.

Fine for parking along the freeway range from $25 to $200.
