5 year old Johnny Martens has been missing for about two months. But as the days pass, his father says his hope for a happy homecoming never will.
"I hope I get him back before Christmas. Because I love him. I will never give up,” says Peter Martens.
Peter may never give up, but he also never imagined living two whole months without his 5 year old son.
"You finally have to sleep because you're so tired. But, I haven't slept very will in the past two months,” says Peter.
Sleep hasn't come easy for Peter since September. Muleshoe Police say Johnny's father, Peter, had full custody. Peter says that's because Child Protective Services removed Johnny from his mother, Margaretha's, home. But, Margaretha wanted un-supervised visitation rights. Peter says the court hadn't officially granted those visits but she took Johnny for a weekend, and never came back.
"He's been in danger. He's been abused and now he's back with the same people,” says Peter.
Since September, Johnny has been entered in a number of databases; along with his mother. A felony warrant was also issued for Margaretha's arrest. The FBI has also been working on this case, always saying situations involving kids, just like Johnny, are always a priority.
"I have a lot of dreams with him,” says Peter who, when he finally drifts off, gets to dream of the one person he wishes to see the minute he wakes.
"He's the greatest thing in the world. Just a really good son,” says Peter.
The Muleshoe Police say they are working closely with the FBI and that they have made headway in this case.
