Lubbock Citibus is going green and saving the Hub City a lot of cash too.  Citibus unveiled its new fleet of six hybrid-electric buses today.  The eco-friendly buses combine diesel engines with rechargeable battery technology, reducing fuel costs by 40%.  These new buses didn't cost tax payers a dime either.  Citibus leaders tell us Lubbock's new rides were paid for through the federal stimulus package and they invite everyone to hop on board the new buses.

"I think everybody ought to come out and at least try it and find out how smooth and quiet it is and also help the environment.  By riding Citibus you help the environment," said John Wilson, General Manager for Citibus.

Citibus said it hopes to replace its entire fleet of 96 buses with the new hybrids over the next few years.
