Prairie Dog Predicament

It's the never ending prairie dog predicament: should the City kill them or find some other solution?
Home owners along Ivory Avenue told us they saw the City putting what appeared to be poison in burrows and then covering up the holes. Some witnesses said it's an inhumane way to kill innocent animals, but others said the pesky rodents are unwelcome neighbors and are glad the City took action.
"Well, they shouldn't do this to the prairie dogs. They shouldn't destroy the prairie dogs. Well, I'd tell those people put them in your backyard or put 'em in your front yard, put 'em in your flower beds," said Eddie Richardson, who thinks the animals are just a nuisance.
We also spoke with folks at Parks and Recreation who confirmed they are using poison on the prairie dogs. They said it's unfortunate, but the best way to control the population.
