Wednesday morning at 2:42 am marks the 10th anniversary of the tragic bonfire collapse at Texas A&M.

On November 18th, 1999, 12 people were killed, 27 others injured, during the construction of the annual 59-foot bonfire tradition.

The bonfire was always held before the rivalry football game against the University of Texas.

Lubbock Aggie Alum Travis Rubelee had been helping with set-up that night 10 years ago, but left, just two hours before the collapse.

Travis Rubelee, Texas A&M Alum: "It's unreal. I just think of all the students that lost their lives. What they'd be doing today. Looking down at my hand seeing the ring on my finger, it could have been me out there. It could have been some of my friends. Any one of us could have been caught in the stack because we all worked on bonfire. That was the thing that was so neat about it because it brought the entire student-body together.

Around 10,000 are expected to gather for a ceremony at A&M's basketball arena tonight. There will also be a candlelight vigil at 2:42 Wednesday morning at the collapse sight in College Station.
