This past summer when rumors started to fly about the possible split, many folks were quick to switch insurance providers so they didn't get stuck with no coverage. Now, lots of those folks are wishing they had waited it out now that the two are back together.

Talks about the possible split date back to June of this year.
That's when doctors voiced their desire for higher reimbursement rates and Blue Cross Blue Shield said they were already getting a suitable rate.

COVENANTBLUECROSS22007-12-03-1196739580.jpgOn September 18th, the two split, leaving more than 12,000 patients 'out of network.' Lucky for those patients, the two decided to renegotiate this past week and struck a deal that went into effect immediately. Blue cross blue shield patients will be able to continue seeing their Covenant doctors as 'in network' physicians, that went into effect as of December 1st. And the new three year contract will take us through 2011.
